Favorite thing about Louisiana:
The culture and food. The pride that people take in the food is unmatched by anywhere else that I’ve lived. It’s a party every time someone cooks.

Now would ya look at that:
Purple and gold bow tie found on eBay for $7, sockless, and Louisiana koozie and Texas sticker c/o Volunteer Traditions.

Speaking of Volunteer Traditions, have you entered the giveaway below?

Meet Ashlyn

September 27, 2011

Photographed in Atlanta, GA

Raised in:
Montgomery, Alabama

Lives in:
Atlanta, Georgia

Favorite city in the south (outside Alabama):
I think I’m supposed to say Atlanta because that’s where I picked to move, huh? Austin, Charleston, Nashville, Birmingham, Auburn, Athens–my list is extensive. But it’s Atlanta that won my heart. Anytime you can meld big-city culture with Southern soul, and be able to escape to the country in just a quick drive, it’s a win.

Now would ya look at that:

  • Ashlyn used to author Miss Magnolia and will be contributing here monthly on various southern culture topics. Her first post is coming soon!
  • Alabama necklace purchased at Doree Boutique to benefit tornado relief in Dixieland.
  • Ring was her grandfathers from the Boy Scouts in elementary school.
  • Rocking all chambray!

Fiesta

September 22, 2011

Photographed in Nashville, TN

Raised in:
San Antonio, Texas

Lives in:
Nashville, Tennessee

What she misses most about Texas:
Mexican food and boys who wear cowboy boots.

Now would ya look at that:
Confidently sporting a guajaca (named for where they are sewn in Mexico). This one was passed down from grandmother to mom, who sent it to her to wear for her and her roommates’ fabulous housewarming fiesta! I attended the fiesta and can confirm that it was, indeed, fabulous.

Favorite southern city to travel to:
Charleston because it always has a cool vibe. It has so much to offer – awesome food, great night life, and the beach is close.

Now would ya look at that:
Founded and runs Jack Donnelly, high quality khakis American made in the South with superior craftsmanship and attention to detail. Currently wearing a pair of his Dalton pants. Can’t help but point out his cowboy boots as well, something that he picked up a liking for while attending college at TCU in Ft. Worth.

Football Friday | Shaker

September 16, 2011

Auburn Alum

Raised in:
Opelika, Alabama

Lives in
Atlanta, Georgia

How football and family intersects for you:
It’s not just the football and tailgates that I love. It’s the Auburn family. It’s sitting with my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins and hearing their stories about being at Auburn. I mean, we’ve sat in the same seats in Jordan-Hare for 50 years.

Now would ya look at that:
The shaker that got the Auburn Tigers through the National Championship game.
