Blueless

October 26, 2011

Photographed in Washington DC

Raised in:
Rockville, Maryland

Lives in:
Rockville, Maryland

Southern city you most want to visit:
I would really love to see a tumbleweed roll across a Texas highway someday. Take me to whatever city that happens in.

Now would ya look at that:
Boots and purse found in North Carolina. Never goes anywhere without her Blublocker sunglasses and in her words, “you’d never know how beautiful the world looks without the color blue, everything looks like a vintage postcard.”

Nick

October 25, 2011

Photographed in Nashville, TN

Raised in:
Hendersonville, Tennessee

Lives in:
Nashville, Tennessee

Favorite thing about the south:
Southern music – the unique traditions of southern music that proliferate worldwide – such as all the different brands of country in Nashville, rockabilly country, country swing, blues tradition in the Delta, and the jazz and jazz funk scene in New Orleans, particular to Frenchman’s Street. These musical traditions are unique to the southern US and influence musicians and musical culture worldwide.

Now would ya look at that:
Meet Nick, half of Brier & Moss, a bow tie company launching mid to late Fall. Nick and his fraternity brother Jonathan are creating a line of high quality collegiate bows and are “working hard to ensure that our first production run will be up to the high standards of gentlemen everywhere.” The bows are designed with official school colors, stripe prep patterns, and 100% silk. The first line is for fans of Samford (worn by Nick), Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia. It was such a pleasure to chat over coffee with Nick in Nashville last week, to hear the dreams of a company who is getting very close to launching, and to jot down phrases like “bow tie wearers are a certain breed. They want to set themselves apart.” Add the Brier & Moss blog to your readers to stay up to date!

Football Friday | Go Dawgs

October 21, 2011

UGA Alum

Raised in:
Roswell, Georgia

Lives in:
Charlottesville, Virginia

Favorite game day memory:
The 2007 blackout game vs Auburn. Georgia came out in black uniforms, the whole stadium was blacked out, and the players kept dancing to “Crank That.” It was a huge win for UGA and also the day I realized how big of a Georgia fan I’d become after being raised in a Florida family.

Now would ya look at that:
The scarf was a gift from her grandmother and the dress is a bridesmaid dress, the kind you actually will wear again.

Photographed in Johnson City, TN

Raised in:
Bristol, Tennessee

Lives in:
Johnson City, Tennessee

Favorite thing to do in this region of the country:
Hike Roan Mountain. I’ve done a lot of hiking and backpacking around the country and Roan Mountain is still my favorite. Probably more for sentimental reasons, but still.

Now would ya look at that:
Bass loafers found in a Nashville thrift store for a whopping $2, cat eye Ray-Bans.

Football Friday | Vandy

October 14, 2011

Vanderbilt Alum (him), TCU Alum (her)

Raised in:
Him: Atlanta, Georgia
Her: Houston, Texas

Lives in:
Nashville, Tennessee

Favorite football game attended:
Him: My senior year, the 2008 Auburn vs. Vandy in Nashville, 14-13 Vandy victory, College Gameday came to Nashville, and the victory made us 5-0 and ranked in the top 15.
Her: I love all the games, but most recently loved the Vandy/Ole Miss game because I predicted correctly that Vandy would whoop them!

Now would ya look at that:
Besides the cute couple? Volunteer Traditions black and gold Tennessee flag behind them.

Get On Your Boots

October 12, 2011

Photographed in Nashville, TN

Raised in:
Houston, Texas

Lives in:
Nashville, Tennessee

Favorite southern city:
Savannah, Georgia – because it is a beautiful place, the buildings are full of history, the foliage is insane, the food is dripping with butter, and it produced Paula Deen.

Now would ya look at that:
Favorite riding boots, found at Retropolis in Houston.

Beau

October 11, 2011

Photographed in Charlottesville, VA

Raised in:
Athens, Georgia

Lives in:
Charlottesville, Virginia

Favorite southern drink:
Terrapin Golden Ale

Now would ya look at that:
Nicknamed ‘Beau’ from birth, after P.T. Beauregard (it doesn’t get much more southern than that!) Shirt found at a thrift store in Athens and sporting it with what I like to call the  casual “southern frat boy uniform” – untucked button up, shorts above the knee, and beat to hell Sperry’s.

Football Friday | Hook ‘Em

October 7, 2011

University of Texas Alum

Raised in:
San Antonio, Texas

Lives in:
Nashville, Tennessee

Favorite UT tradition:
TX-OU in Dallas! I mean, does a college football rivalry get any better than a road trip to meet-in-the-middle, a stadium divided perfectly in half, a ticket to the Texas State Fair and a Fletcher’s Corn Dog (who are we kidding…2 Fletcher’s Corn Dogs) before 11:00AM kick-off?

Now would ya look at that:
Custom Longhorn Lucchese boots were a 21st birthday present from her parents and have made an appearance at every football game since she got them. Turquoise bracelet from her favorite “not-quite-southern-city” Sante Fe. Last, her prized slap-koozie from OU-TX sophomore year keeping that Corona cold.

Now would ya look at that:
Imogene+Willie jeans (only washed one time in three years) and his grandmothers 1957 Leica M3.
