Wake Forest Alum

Raised in:
San Antonio, Texas

Lives in:
Nashville, Tennessee

What took you from Texas to North Carolina to Nashville:
I visited my sister’s best friends at Wake Forest on my college tour and loved the campus and everyone I met. I had never experienced real seasons before and loved the welcoming Southern culture. After college I knew I didn’t want to stay in Winston-Salem and I wasn’t quite ready to head back to Texas, so I moved to Nashville. It’s a direct flight back to San Antonio, it has seasons, there is always something fun going on, and one time Garth Brooks played nine shows in a row.

Now would ya look at that:

  • Modcloth Amber Champion dress.
  • Necklace + earrings: Gifts from my family for high school graduation. “They sure came in handy – I quickly learned that at Wake Forest, girls wear pearls. All day every day.”
  • Essie Smokin’ Hot nail polish.
  • Jack Rogers sandals.

Lifelong UVA fan

Raised in:

Lives in:

Favorite UVA game memory:
That’s truly a hard one, but I would have to go with when UVA beat FSU in 1995 for FSU first loss in the ACC. That was one truly exciting game to beat the unbeatable FSU. I have many more good games, but this had to be my favorite.

Now would ya look at that:
Seth, the man behind The Southern Prep.

  • Billy Reid jacket.
  • Randy Hanuaer bow tie.
  • Thom Browne dress shirt.
  • Leather Man LTD UVA belt.
  • Epaulet pants.

Favorite southern fashion trend:
I don’t know if you call it a trend, but I like that you can keep it super simple. T-shirt and jeans, clean lines, authentic redwings with a selvage denim, or just simple suits with a white shirt. The only accessories I’ll need is a pair of sunglasses and a good belt. It’s up to you what belt you use; either this brown belt in the picture (mentioned below) or something more high-end to add a bit of class to the outfit. If you can’t afford a designer belt, there’s plenty of replicas on the market. Just take a look at BeleneChandia’s fake Gucci belts collection for some inspiration! I like to keep it as simple as possible with my dress. Paul Newman, Thom Browne, Nathan Followill, Fred Astaire, Steve McQueen, Sid Mashburn…all of their fashion is just bare bones simple. I know some of them aren’t from the south but I like that the south dresses that way. There is something endearing about a nice, custom tailored navy suit, and a pair of brogue suede loafers. The style down here is not too stuffy.

Now would ya look at that:

  • Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses.
  • Lacoste polo.
  • Zelli crocadille belt.
  • RRL raw denim (2 years old, no washes).
  • Sid Mashburn double monks.
  • Tattoos from Nathan Fish at Fu’s Custom Tattoo (Charlotte) and Bill Conner at Southern Star Tattoo (Atlanta).

Favorite Tennessee game day traditions:
Tailgating behind Wendy’s on the strip. My parents bought a parking spot my freshman year of college and have made it a tradition to go to all the games. We tailgate with great family friends of ours who bring a 50” flat screen and tents and the whole space is filled with endless amounts of food, beer, friends and other fans. Everyone knows where to find us on game days.

Now would ya look at that:
Christine tailgating at the Georgia Dome.

  • Tory Burch sunglasses.
  • Diana Warner Studios necklace.
  • Anthropologie shirt.
  • Jones Lovin’ koozie.
  • J.Crew shorts.
  • Frye boots.

Favorite burger in Atlanta:
Hands down, The Bocado Burger Stack with the pickles on the side. Not the biggest burger, but one of the best. Holeman & Finch‘s burger gives it a run for the title, though.

Now would ya look at that:

  • Custom suit and shirt by Trio Tailoring (based in Atlanta).
  • The William bow tie by Brier & Moss.

Favorite thing about Gainesville?
It is has character…and a lot of it. Gainesville is the perfect blend of a down-home country town/artsy-hippie haven with a sports-crazed university flair. If Gainesville was a person it would be a frat guy who wears Birkenstocks, drives a Benz with a Grateful Dead bumper sticker, likes surfing/boating/fishing, and could drink anyone under the table at your tailgate…all while making straight A’s.

Now would ya look at that:
Sarah, killin’ the first Florida look to grace the blog. Neon, neon.

  • 1970’s vintage dress found at Persona in Gainesville.
  • Moon & Lola monogram necklace.
  • Rebecca Minkoff purse.
  • Michael Kors watch.
  • Handmade leather bracelet gifted from a friend who went to Italy.
  • Essie “There’s No Place Like Chrome” nail polish.
  • Zara boots.

Dutchman

September 6, 2012

Photographed in Atlanta, GA

Raised in:
All over. Literally. I was born in Haarlem, The Netherlands and then moved to Atlanta when I was almost three. Stayed in Atlanta for two years and then moved back to Holland for a few. Then I moved to Singapore for two years, then to Hong Kong for a year and a half, then back to Holland for two years, then England for a year and a half, then Atlanta for two years, then Singapore for two years of high school, and then finally now Atlanta for twelve years. So out of everywhere I’ve been, Atlanta is more my home although my heart will always be in Holland and Singapore.

Lives in:
Atlanta, Georgia

Favorite Atlanta breakfast spot:
My favorite spot is a two parter. First, on the way to work I swing by Revolution Doughnuts in Decatur, and on a lucky day they’ll have a special yeast style donut with some type of cream filling. The Nutella and The Banana cream pie ones being my favorite so far. Once the donuts are in hand, I’ll drive over to Dancing Goat Coffee for the best coffee in Georgia.  Hands down the best, no contest in my book. If I had to pick one place on lazy weekend, then Stone Soup Kitchen is always great.

Now would ya look at that:
Keeping it simple in a v-neck, Levi’s 511 jeans and leather boots. Bonus: black rubber Ray-Ban Wayferer sunglasses.
