(Current) favorite band from the south:
The South is really a hotbed of great music… even more so lately than in past years. Athens is killing it right now: Futurebirds and The Whigs always put on a great show, and Reptar are upbeat and danceable in that guilty pleasure sorta way.  I saw Nashville’s Jeff the Brotherhood at the Gentlemen of the Road stopover in Bristol – those dudes are so rock n’ roll. If we’re counting Texas and Florida as the South (I’m going to) – Surfer Blood out of Palm Beach County are so chill but still complex, and I don’t really see myself ever getting sick of going to Ghostland Observatory (out of Austin) shows. Of course, Alabama Shakes – I saw them at Bonnaroo and they’re on the verge of something huge. And as far as Atlanta goes? I can’t even talk about Outkast deciding to not move forward with new music. To me, they’re the Alpha and the Omega. Not gonna lie though, I can get into some Usher.
