Favorite Arkansas tradition:
My favorite part of game days during undergrad was walking from the Pi Phi house with friends down Maple Street all the way to the stadium, and seeing all the tailgaters along the way and hearing almost a continual calling of the hogs as we went. The feeling of Fayetteville in the fall on game day is unlike anyplace or anything else. I also love the official “calling the hogs” in the stadium right before the game begins when the players run out – everyone is woo pig sooie-ing their hearts out, and there’s all the hope in the world that we’ll win the game! Although it didn’t take place in Fayetteville because it was Thanksgiving break, one of my favorite moments of being an Arkansas fan was during my junior year, when we beat LSU (in Baton Rouge, no less!) in triple overtime. I was watching from the living room with my dad at home in Texas, and I don’t know if we’d ever cheered that much at the TV before! Still makes me happy to think about it! Go hogs!
